Glimpses of life, Cairo

Soon after visiting the Egyptian museum, we were accosted by another taxi driver asking us if he can take us wherever we wanted to go. I had wanted to visit another part of Islamic Cairo, so we agreed on a price, to take us there and wait for us while we visit a few places. ON the way there we were able to snap a few pictures of the neighborhoods that we passed through. These were very interesting neighborhoods and the pictures speaks for themselves. We didn't see too many McDonald's, just this one.

This is the official taxi, the black and whites, there are yellow cabs but not too many. The city is just full of taxis but even then it's not enough. They use a lot of mini buses also, the traffic in Cairo is horrendous but if you can stand it, Cairo is very interesting. People manage.

The cemeteries with their distinctive Mamluk features.

More views of the cemeteries, they are right in the heart of Cairo.

We did enjoy Cairo. It is so different and so interesting. We travel so that we see things that are different, so that we can be moved by other experiences. This was a great trip, just five days in Cairo and I have enough pictures and stories to fill a thick book.
