Collioure 2

What it takes to be an independent traveler? Throughout the trip we bounced this question around. It is the same stuff that is required to live a full life.
Curiosity
Daring
Self worth
Optimism
Preparation
Risk taking
Cautious
We finally got to the waterfront. It's a small cove, with the church tower at one corner and the citadel at the other. There's a small beach in between and it was still warm enough that there were a few swimmers in the water. An artist had already set himself up to do some painting, he's really good, like he's painted that scene many times before. Two American women also started setting up their easels. We sat and watched people come and go. It was the most pleasant of days.

The elusive espadrilles, we didn't buy any because we thought we were going to buy them in Barcelona. Even if I brought home a pair, I don't think I'll wear them. I'll just hang them some where to remind me of this trip.

It's a great place to sit and people watch.

A typical sea front resort in France, people sit for hours playing with their drink. How's this compared with Hawaii or the Caribbean? I won't know, I've never been. I certainly prefer this because they speak French and the food is French!

The citadel or fort.

Colorful fishing boats, it's a subject not just for photographers but for painters also.

Beyond the citadel is another cove where the locals live.

The small beach.

The church tower at the other corner. This view is a favorite of artists. Everybody seem to be drawing this view.

We sat and people watched. Then we left to take the train back to Perpignan and on to our next stop, Villefranche de confluent in the Pyrenees. It was like the amazing race where we race from place to place. We got to get enough in to make the trip worthwhile. We are spending a lot of money.
