Sospel

Near the train station is a little park and there were these glorious bushes of Japanese Anemones in full bloom. They're so beautiful, next to Peonies, Japanese Anemones are my other favorite flower. It was a Sunday when we went to Sospel, I'm surprised to find out that there are a lot of trains to Sospel on a Sunday, I expected less. It was in Sospel that, thanks to Sophie, I found out we can squeeze 2 places into one daytrip. The train goes to Tende, high in the mountains, in the border between France and Italy, we stopped half way at Sospel. It was raining but rain never stopped us. We were in deluge in Sicily and we forged ahead, head out and saw what we went to see. It was foggy and wet, we can see clouds hanging around in Sospel. It is a really pretty village, kind of small. The tourist office was opened and a really informative woman was there. We asked if we could walk to the next village, Breil sur roya, we didn't think there was any other way of getting there. Then she gave us a train schedule, we realized, we could take the next train to Breil and spent a few hours and then take the train back to Nice. Wow, 2 places in one day, we would repeat this later when we went to Perpignan.

There was church services going on, its' nice to know that faith is still alive. I love going into churches to pray, to pray that I could continue to travel and visit all these cute places.

There's a bakery, or a few bakeries across the street. Every one's lining up for their morning croissants and loaves of French bread for lunch. I followed the crowd and bought a roll, it was warm and soft and so fresh, mmmmmmm.

We're pretty high up in the mountains.

The very gorgeous bridge over the Roya river.

Over the bridge, the village is pretty and colorful and these houses lined the river bank.

The rain stopped later that day and the sun came out. We left and went to the train station to take the train to the next village. I've always wanted to see Sospel, I finally did and I was not disappointed.
