Barbary apes

What's with these monkeys? At the time of our visit, we were wondering about it but it was only after we left that I realised their significance. I was watching a documentary about conservation in Morroco and the emphasis was on the dying out of certain species of plants and animals in Morroco. There are efforts in Morroco to save their national heritage, among them are these Barbary apes. They live in the cedar forests of moyen Atlas. Their population has been slowly dwindling and it doesn't help that tourists are taken here to look at them. There are lots of local vendors here selling peanuts and candy, for feeding these monkeys and I read that this diet is causing a lot of diseases in the monkeys leading them to die off even faster. They were friendly and were expecting us to buy some peanuts to feed them. We didn't do it. This guy is wondering,'how come no peanuts?'
This is the biggest cedar tree in the world, I think it is dead. Here are the cedar forests of moyen Atlas, again they are thinning out. Again conservation and awareness is needed to save them.
This fellow is walking away disappointed, 'no peanuts.....sh.......'
