The way to Marrakech

The seven hours on the train didn't seem long at all. There were lots of interesting things to look at outside the train window. There was drama on the train also. The train went from Fes through Casablanca and onto Marrakech. No sooner has we left Casablanca, where we picked up a lot more people, they flew into Casablanca airport, take the train to Marrakech. This is usually so unless they take the special flights which flew them into Marrakech. Soon after Casablanca, there was a huge commotion, a big burly passenger and the condcutor got into a huge argument. We later learnt the big guy was Spanish and he didn't like his assigned seat, he wanted to move but the conductor wouldn't le him. The passenger did move, he and his German wife sat with us and we got to talking all the way to Marrakech. It was a pretty eventful train ride afterall. The view of the lush countryside was so beautiful, wild flowers were blooming in profusion, there were those gorgeous red field poppies all over. There were cork trees too with their bark stripped off. I've read about them but never saw them till tat day. We arrived at an ultra modern station in Marrakech and took a taxi to our riad. The taxi dumped us at some junction, tossed our luggage into a waiting wheel barrow, some guy asked the name of our riad and before we knew what was going on, we were running alongside of him, heading for the riad. The place where all the riads are, has a very narrow pedestrain only walkway and there were so many twists and turns. Finally we found the riad where I thought I had a reservation only to be turned away. We tried to get rid of the guy with the wheel barrow and grabbed our luggage back, we paid him and told him to get lost. We had to do that because he was so aggressive and bent on finding us another place. We told we can managed because going in to find the riad, we noticed a few places outside. So we stopped at one, inquire about the price of a room, was told 45 euros, we hesitated, the guy said, breakfast was included, that sold us and we took the room. It was a very nice place and the owners were very nice people, I promised him that when I came back I would write a good review of them in Tripadviser which I did. Look up Riad Nesma in Marrakech and read my review.
