The Palace is also the distillery for Dom Benedictine liqueur. Supposedly monks had this herbal formula which they've been distilling for ages. Till a man by the name of Alexandre LeGrand took the formula, perfected it and started distilling and selling it commercially. Today Benedictine liqueur is sold all over the world.
They make three kinds of Benedictine liqueur.
The entry fee entitled us to a sample of one of the three liqueurs. I chose their 43 percent proof single cask Benedictine. Mmmmmmm very smooth. Here am I at 11.30 in the morning sipping Benedictine. Most of the visitors just gulped theirs down but I wasn't going to hurry.
