After almost two days of traveling, we arrived in Mardin, Turkey, very close to the Iraqi border. Mardin sits on a hillside and all the roads are steep. The view of the Mesopotamia valley is just spectacular. We were treated like celebrities because very few Orientals venture in these parts. We were stopped everywhere to have our picture taken with the locals. We were hounded and after a while it wasn't amusing anymore. It's good to be back. I've just landed.
