Sichuan, China
The sauce.
The hot pot soup.
One of the greatest part of Chinese food is Sichuan food. But we did not like Sichuan food, it was way too spicy. They use a lot of Sichuan peppercorns and we did not like Sichuan peppercorns at all. They grow wild in the woods, they are little red berries that has a very pungent peppery taste. The taste is overwhelming and we couldn't develop a taste for it. Our family origin is from the South part of China where the food is blander. Most of the time we couldn't tell what meat they were serving us, we couldn't understand the terminology, their dialect is very different from ours and there was a huge communication gap even though Zac and I speak Mandarin. Sorry, Sichuan, your food may be world renowned but to us it sucked.
