Xinjiang Province, China

I'm planning to go back to China in September, this time to Xinjiang Province, home of the Uighurs. I just read that there has been rioting by the Uighurs and a clamp down by the Chinese resulting in the deaths of about 140 people. Am I still going? Yes, while I care about Christians living in Muslim countries, I equally am appalled by oppression of any sort. Over the weekend I watched a documentary about the plight of North Koreans after they snugged out of their country and into China. The women folk end up as prostitutes in brothels to earn money to pay for their trip to Southern China, then cross the border through Laos and finally make their way to the South Korean Embassy in Thailand where those who are successful in arriving would be given assylum in South Korea. The 2 American journalists, Eunna Lee and Laura Ling were caught by the North Koreans when they tried to get the story out about the plight of North Korea women after they get snugged out of North Korea. These 2 brave women are in a North Korea labor camp serving a 12 year sentence. As we enjoy our freedom in the West, let us spare a thought and a prayer for these 2 women and others who are not free.
