Inside Saffron monastery

Sometimes a picture speaks a thousand words. This is the very Islamic South Eastern part of Turkey, a part that in ancient days was part of the early Christian world. Not too far south, the early followers of Christ fled after His death and where these early followers were first called 'Christians'. Today, long after the fall of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, 'a remnant' remainsss. Elijah, in the Bible, told God, 'there are no followers left.' But God said, 'not so, I have reserved for myself a remnant'. Here, as in ancient times, a remant clings on to the Aramaic, the language of Jesus.
