Restoration of a pyramid

The step pyramid is the oldest and its base is fast eroding away. Considering it is almost 5000 years old, it is in pretty good shape after all these years of exposure to the elements. There are other minor pyramids which have collapsed. So it is vital to try to save this pyramid because of its significance in history. We see a handful of people working in the hot sun, hauling huge stone blocks.

They have to stop every few steps because that stone block is so heavy.

It takes 4 people a very long time to haul this stone block. Compare what they did almost 5000 years ago, how many blocks did it take to build this, how did they stack them one on top of the other....Why is it 'step'? They haven't yet discover the formula to make the sides straight. This was the best Imhotep could do, the architect of the first pyramid, the Step pyramid!

We were here in February and it wasn't that hot yet. November to March is the tourist season in Egypt.
