Snails, anyone?
After eating that huge meal, we strolled along the streets of Casablanca looking for some icecream as dessert. I smelled something really spicy wafting from this man's cart. I said to ophie,'Let's see what he's selling'. She had a cold and couldn't smell anything. We saw this receptacle of empty shells of snails and just then he was scooping ou a bowl of snails for this customer. We looked at each other and said, 'how about some snails?' We shared a small bowl and here we are enjoying them. We would go on to many more bowls as our trip progressed. After you've finished your snails, he then scoops out a bowl of broth for you to drink. It is really spicy and delicious. It just cost 10 dirhams for a bowl of snails. We would later find out where they get their snails. In Spring they are all the place, feeding on the plentiful thistles that grow everywhere. Come to Morocco and be adventurous, culinarywise, you haven't tasted the sheep's brains and spleens yet, neither have we!
