We're in Fes

The view from the roof top terrace of our hotel in Fes and this is our hotel, Pension Campini. It is just next to the palace and we are not to take any pictures of the palace. It is within walking distance to the Old Fes. Here is the gate (Bab) to the old Fes, a Unesco World Heritage site. We spent a lot of time a this restaurant just inside the gate. It was fun, sitting, eating and drinking our mint tea and Coca cola and watching the endless action. It is a parade of characters, non stop, locals and visitors all in the mix. The alley ways are very narrow and donkeys are used to haul stuff in and out of the souk. Every now and then, you have to step aside for the donkeys to pass and we would be so enamored with them, we took a lot of pictures of donkeys. Never in my life have I found donkeys so endearing. We took a lot of donkey pictures this trip, not just in Fes but all over. We would get to ride a donkey later in the trip. Finally, after Casablanca, we would see the Morocco we came to see. The train ride form Casablanca took 4 hours and we had the company of a young Moroccan University student who wanted to practise speaking English. We passed some of the most gorgeous countryside. Spring is the best time to visit.

At one point I was so overwhelmed, I had to leave the medina to seek refuge outside.
