The smell of roasting cumin

Looking at this display, one is not tempted to eat here but for the smell of roasting cumin, cumin sprinkled on grilled meat, wafting through the air and tempting us to eat here. No one could resist the smell of cumin. It was the smell of cumin that brought me to a pot of boiling snails on the streets of Casablanca. We had to try the snails and they were so good. It was cumin on the streets of Kunming in Yunnan, China that led me to the muslim 'hui' cooking. They would set up little charcoal braziers all over the place and grill their lamb kebabs with cumin salt. Here in the souk in Fes, Morocco, the smell of cumin led us to this hole in the wall eatery when we became hungry after a whole day of wandering in the souk.

These are the tasty Moroccan sausage.
I think these are lamb hearts and they are good.

Washed down with some Coca Cola and we were in epicurie heaven. Time for the next meal somewhere else in the world....
