The covered market, Budapest

The covered market is as good a place to start as any. We've just arrived, ate at the Burger King across the street. We are now ready to explore Pest, the one half of Budapest. It is a 2 level building with souvenir stores, a food court and a market. The souvenirs were disappointing, there so much of the same thiung and we weren't even sure if they were made in Hungary and not China. We knew the stuff in Prague were all made in China. I was looking for some authentic linen/hemp grain sacks but couldn't find any. So we just took a few pictures and moved on. There were lots of fruits and vegetables, it is amazing how free enterprise could free the hands of farmers and bring such a bountiful of stuff as compared to the long bread lines of Communism. Of course there were lots of peppers and paprika. There were lots of tourists too. We took the bus to get here and then the bus back to Keleti train station where our hotel was. It was great knowing how to get around in Budapest. I'm happy I was able to push past my inhibitions and misgivings and end up visiting Budapest. I want to visit Bulgaria and Romania next but not on this trip.
