Hungarian food

The best place to eat cheap and good Hungarian food is at the covered market in Budapest. We had the stuffed cabbage which was alright but the meatballs are really good, it had a sweetest kind of paprika sauce which was excellent. We went again on Sunday but they were closed. We had to really hunt for a restaurant the Sunday evening. We were given the name of a good and authentic Hungarian restaurant near our hotel. It was small and crowded, they were overwhelmed and was not interested in having us as diners, so we left. We found this Italian place next to some big hotel, they were overwhelmed too but they took us in, warned us of the very long wait for food. By that time, after having walked all over looking for food, we didn't mind waiting. The food was pretty good, the server, a young Hungarian girl was so overworked but she put on a brave face and served us as well as she could under these circumstances. I applaud her. I know the feeling, I'm in the retail business, when business gets overwhelming like that, you don't care how many customers walk away. In fact, you wish most of them do, it's not your business, I get paid either way or a little more is not going to make much difference.
Definitely the food court at the covered market is the best deal in town. Hungarian food, authentic and good and cheap.
