What a glorious day! This is main street, Szentendre and it is so pretty. It was a Saturday and the place was filled with tourists and locals who had come up from Budapest for the day. After wandering off to the side alleys, we came back to main street. We visited the marzipan museum and store. Imagine that something dedicated to marzipan. It was interesting. This was the Serbian church, we didn't go in because they charge for going in to see their collection ofchristian icons. The grounds were already very pretty. I could live here. It is like any other European village. To one side of the village, runs the Danube river, it makes a bend around here and is called the Danube bend. Cute little cafes and restaurants and souvenir shops line this street. We sat and mingled with everybody. One can also come up to Szentendre and beyond by boat.
At the train staion some local women had home grown flowers for sale and some locals were buying from them, presumably to bring home or to bring to friends they were visiting. Imagine living and working in Budapest during the week and then coming back to Szentendre during the weekend. I could do that. We went to the post office to mail some postcards home and we saw some locals and it was so pleasant. I wouldn't soon forget this day. Cute and colorful villages are my downfall.
