Warwick castle

A visit to Warwick castle was included on this tour but there was an extra charge. Being the cheapskates that we were we didn't want to fork out the extra charge so we weren't allowed in to Warwick castle. Instead we explored the village of Warwick. We did try to get a better shot of the castle from the outside. We walked round and round it, some one said if we walked a mile some way we'll get the most perfect view of the castle from the outside. We tried but gave up. This is the best we could do. But the village, as serendipity would have it, was an even better bargain as you will see in later posts. Just as we didn't pay to go in to see Anne Hathway's cottage back in Stratford, we didn't go in to see the interior of Warwick castle. It's just some old and ancient stuff.
I was reading a book where the author expounded on the word 'serendipity'. I love that word 'serendipity, serendipity, serendipity....say it many times....Someone wrote a book called 'the princes of serendip'. That's where the word came from. Serendipity....means the faculty of making happy and unexpected discoveries by accident'.' Rosemary Maloney wrote 'we shouldn't follow the guidebook advice so closely...'walk down this way up the alley you'll find a hunchback cobbler...' Let serendipity take over, you'll never know what you'll find. We are not broke by any means, but with the exchange rate like the way it was, we have to maximise our thrills by spending as little as possible. The rate was 1 English pound = US$2 and 1 euro = US1.60, we are the poor American cousins. The rate as of right now is much more favorable, the euro and the pound has fallen.
