Kasbah Ait ben Haddou
For certain places in the world the best time to go is Spring and Fall. I can imagine this plaace in summer, baking hot! It was a very pleasant day, a tat hot but otherwise bearable. I hate the heat, too hot is bad, a little warm is just right. We arrived at the village and a little stream separated us from the kasbah. As usual our taxi driver introduced us to a guide, though one is not necessary. The guide then had us get on donkeys to get to the other side, though we could easily roll up our pants, take our shoes off and wade across. I see his point, he is trying to spread the wealth, everyone gets paid something. I don't mind, what's a few dirhams here and there. This place has a Unesco world heritage site designation, so we saw some restoration work going on. This is a famous kasbah, one featured in books, magazines, travel shows and paintings. It is very beautiful.
