Our riad in Marrakech
I am surprised we didn't take any pictures of he interior and of our rooms. We come back all tired out, shower, edit our pictures, write in our journals and work out he next day's itinerary and we go t sleep. In the morning, we head up to the roof top area for breakfast and this is the only time we took our cameras out in the riad. The riad is in the old medina and everything is huddled together and surprisingly it was very quiet. We never once heard the call to pray unlike in Fes when we heard the whole hour of it every morning at 5am. They say it is better to pray than to sleep. I'd rather sleep at 5am while I'm on vacation. I do wake up at 5 am at home. Breakfast is a couple of hard boiled eggs, fresh squeezed Orange juice, coffee or tea, Baguette and local pastries with honey and fig jam and cumin salt. All served by some cheery Morrocan women. Come to think of it we've always loved breakfast at the places where we stayed at wherever we went, whether it be Munich, Palermo, Rennes, Lyon and even London. The best breakfast was at the hotel in Trapani, Sicily. In Casablanca we were in the breakfast room with another guest, he left some of his food and we took the leftover, the egg and his yoghurt.
