The countryside

Not too far outside of Marrakech is the most beautiful  Ouirika valley. The day we visited the whole valley was filled with the white blooms of Almonds. The water from the snow melt flows in the valley and waters every thing in its path. Here and there are Berber homesteads and the terraced hillside is so spectacular.
We took a grand taxi from Marrakech and he drove us for the day. We got him to stop whenever we saw something we were particularly interested in. Other times he'd stop when he saw something noteworthy. He is related to the owners of the riad we stayed in. Your hotel or riad can arrange for transportation for the day. Or some will even go on overnight trips. Our driver was game to take us for an overnight stay in the desert. We declined because we weren't prepared but its good to know for the next trip. Everywhere the locals have set up their stoves to cook up tajines to sell to visitors. They were also displaying their ceramics and rugs all over the place.
