The wonderful frescoes

 Mary and baby Jesus.
The departure or the Anelipsis or simply in English, the Ascension into heaven of Jesus. The frescoes on either side, though not clear showed the charging of the apostles, charging them with the great commission, to preach the gospel to the outermost parts of the earth.

Barely visible, the Deisis, mother and child with John the Baptist on one side and John the apostle on the other.
This a very beautiful dome, possibly the fresco depicting Christ the Pantocrator was painted here. Notice the amount of blue color, I read that blue came from Lapis Lazuli and is very rare and therefore very expensive. Today we are so jaded, chemical paints is so readily available. But in those days if one is underwrite such a project, one must really count the costs.

Ezekiel Chapter one, a depiction of the four evangelists and their symbols, a man, an ox, an eagle and a lion. St Luke is the ox, St Mark is the lion, St Matthew is the man and St John is the eagle. It was hard to take a better picture, I laid flat on the floor and pointed my camera upwards, trying to get it all in one frame. This is by far, an amazing pictorial representation. I saw a similar fresco in one the cave churches in Cappadocia. The colors are so amazing.
 Jesus with the bible.

The wedding at Cana, the turning of water into fine wine.
I can never get tired of viewing centuries old frescoes. I'll get there wherever they may be found.
