Children at play

One of the reasons for travel is to let other peoples' lives touch mine. While I do go for those fantastic shots of architecture and natural wonder, sometimes it is the nuance of daily life that is even more intriguing. There were lots of children working with their parents. The younger ones would entertain themselves and play with each other. Here I found two playing with bricks and obviously engrossed. Life doesn't have to be complicated, we don't need fantastic toys, mind you, China makes all our toys. Here these two Chinese kids have no toys, everything is destined for the export market. It reminds me of a book I just finished reading, 'Execution by hunger'. It recounts the time of forced collectivism of farms by the Russians imposed on the Ukrainians. The Ukrainian farmers were starving because their harvest were taken away by the Russians to be exported in exchange for foreign exchange. But these kids at play is a different scenario, they just have more fun improvising.
