A mock Kazakh village

This has been set up in the park for visitors. There are real Kazakhs living in the Heavenly mountain range and we see them and their herds. This one is a mock village set up to entertain visitors.
The kid is waiting to entertain us with his playing of a 2 string instrument and his singing of some Kazakh folk songs.

Inside the yurt we sat waiting for the entertainment to start. Here we are taking our shoes off. We were offered sour mare's milk which is an acquired taste. I took one sip and handed the cup to Sophie. I didn't think she took more than one sip.

The Kazakhs are nomads, they roam the grasslands of Xinjiang and also Kazakhstan. Some remained in this part of China. They ride their horses and are out in the open every day except the winter. Even the kids learn to ride at an early age. It is a well known fact that school is on horseback. Teachers ride out to teach the kids. Courtship is also on horseback. They have some kind of ritual on horseback. This was an unexpected treat to meet Kazakhs in China.
