Athens
Sophie has been bugging me for years, when are we going to Greece and Athens? Well, here we are, in Athens. It's a 3 hour bus ride from Sparta, stopping in Corinth for 20 minutes for a bathroom break. We arrived at the Peloponnese bus station in Athens, this is where you'll catch the buses bound for the Peloponnese if your trip originate in Athens. We took the suburban rail from Athens airport to Corinth. The guidebook has instructions on how to take the bus and metro to the Monastraki district where our hotel was. It was too overwhelming and so we took a cab. It cost about 8 euros for 2 people, that's a bargain. Our hotel was closed, there was sign that told us to go to another hotel which we did. It wasn't that bad, people are so friendly. Athens is like any metropolitan city, crowded, noisy, full of traffic and visitors. We had lunch after we finally found our hotel and walked to the Acropolis which is just minutes away. Finally after all our peregrinations we are in Athens.
